Online over-payment scams

I know that this is not a riveting CODAissue but, I've just had a run-in with an online Scammer and am in the middle of tormenting and counter-scamming the Scammer.

I have an item for sale at VarageSales and the Scammer sent me a cashiers check for MORE than the item is selling for and wants me to QUICKLY make a MoneyGram or Western Union wire transfer from what is left over, after deducting the price of my item from his TOO large cashiers check, and send him the Control number of the wire transfer ASAP to give to his "Mover" for the item I'm selling!   Of course the cashiers check is totally false and I have NOT sent this Cyber Criminal any $$$ for his so-called "Mover" so I'll see what this pathetic Criminal does next!

I've researched this Over-payment scam on line and had a lot of laughs at the stunts and gimmicks these Cyber Criminals come up with plus the very funny counter scams the "419 Baiters" play on them!

Apparently a lot of very fragile, low self-worth and gullible folks (like us Codependents) fall for these various scams - especially if the scam is about: love, respect, friendship, dating, marriage and a lot of "personal" and "confidence" scams where the victims are NEEDY/GREEDY and have fragile egos or too much Pride.

One victim, who angrily went over to Africa to "get his money back", was found DEAD in the streets the very next day!!!!!!

If you want to know more about this just google: certified check, over payment scam

It's a very deep subject!

I love the ones that call and tell me that my computer has a virus.  I let them take me through the entire process and act really dumb ... "Start menu?" .... and waste as much as their time as possible.

Then when they are telling me how to log into their remote access application so they can access my machine I simply say "Just to let you know ... I'm a computer technician."

They get REALLY angry.
