If you live outside of NZ- it might take you a few

moments to get your head around this one. Please be patient.

smile Coda, Aca, Alanon, Aa, NA... Xa katoa... all of us 12 Step family.

Facing abandonment and rejection is a terrible experience.

We become non-people- which is a horrible experience.

From our FOO- our family of origin... the experience of most of us- all of us.

From within trusted relationship- where we tried to form bonds of trust- devastating.

Lost my personality. No identity. I was wracked with pain and coldness. I was lost.

Our 12 Step groups are not perfect- and never will be. In my groups i manifested my own worst attributes- initially.

Understand group process was a help.

Taught me to be patient.

But when our GOO- our Group Of Origin turns in us- it can be devastating! blankstare

I am committed, today- as a 12 Stepper- to working towards creating healthy functioning groups.

From what i have learned, exactly... I know how to do this by example.

This was a slow gradual learning experience.

And some really tough and rough lessons along the way.

Progress not perfection.

We have the right to be wrong.

I talked with Betty once- about Alanon democracy in NYC, or thereabouts.

She quoted Tradition one, and tradition 7- but that was it.

He answer left me worried and troubled.

We don't expect to have the while group getting it's head around the traditions. But 2 or 3 members would be great.

The 12 traditions help hold the groups together.

The 12 Concept of Service- relate mostly to assemblies and conferences.

And there  are also the Warranties of Service to consider.

These were designed to operate around WSO.

I used to envy people who were in large big city groups.

But few, if any, have any experience have any experience of the echelons of service within Alanon.

I said "echelons" and NOT 'higher echelons'.

The reason for this is the the key item in the Alanon hierarchy is the individual member, and the group.

I had this drilled into me from day one.

And our principal focus is on the newcomer.

The different layers and levels around the MIP 12 Step groups were designed to accomodate all these levels, within the one unified organisation.

One of the assets here- is to get practical experience in any, or all of these levels.

And to be able to pass on the experience- by practical example too any F 2 F groups we are in.

Two weeks ago I went to an assembly, with a person who had sat on our national GSO.

We did not talk about that so much. What actually happened was we shared our own ESH.

19 to the dozen, really.

AA hubby was driving the car, and in the last half hour of our drive he expressed appreciation. aww.

So this feels like a good space for me- to learn more... ... to have stuff to pass on through my own ESH. aww ...

Thanks for reading this... smilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmile... awwawwawwawwawwawwawwaww... smilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmile...
