Getting to know who I am

I have learned a lot about myself during recovery and in the process learned to love a lot of things about myself and identify a lot of things I would like to change.  I work on those things daily.

But I still felt I needed more insight and was mentioning this to a friend and they suggested I try one of the many Myers Briggs books.  I did and what I found is my personality type is ISTJ.  I was reading through this and all I can say is ...

WOW!!!!!

They say that the foundation of your personality type is set when you are born.  I don't know if this is true ... but I read through ISTJ and it floored me how accurate this was.  I read a lot of things about my personality type that I LOVE and some things I would like to change.  Of course the things I would like to change are around relationships and communication which was no big surprise.  This process helped me accept even more about myself and love me for me.  I am not an impossible puzzle and with willing people that love me - wonderful relationships are possible.  I bring a LOT to the table.  I also found out that the career I accidentally ended up in is the career I am supposed to have and will excel in.  Explains a LOT.

I will continue to learn more about myself and make small changes to make my life better ... which means it is going to be pretty great because my life really rocks just as it is.  I can change.  I can make things works.  As long as I have people who are willing to do the work with me.

According to the ISTJ personality ... that makes EVERYTHING possible ... because I LIKE to work.

I went on Amazon and looked up ISTJ and found a book called "How to get the man of your dreams: An ISTJ Man"  I figured they had a book called that for every personality type but it was the only one I could find.  I had to laugh because that has been me in most of my relationships.  The man.  (I am a woman).  I totally shadow and intimidate the men I choose and often wonder "Why am I the man in this relationship?"  Weird stuff.  I read where women of my type have a hard time identifying because we are so opposite of society's gender rolls.  They also say that once we embrace it we are unstoppable in all aspects of our life.  I am giving it a REALLY big hug right now .

Keep digging.  Keep changing.  Keep growing.  Anything is possible.

Thank you for sharing, willing. I'm glad you're embracing all you're discovering of who you are. I found my relationship with myself much improved when I accept my shadow side & all that I am. It's from here I truly can grow because I'm realising where I am, addressing it & that gives me the beginning of the ability to change if I want too. There are lots of ways I may be staying still while I'm working in other areas as I haven't been writing much inventory lately & I'm saying this because if I don't keep shining my higher powered light on to those parts I may be inhibited or hindered by I may be interrupting God's healing help or at least not having the best this can offer. Thank you for your prompt. It's quiet here at the moment but I want you to know your contribution is bringing renewal & energy to MIP. Thank you, sister. Love lilmzx
