In my recovery, I know I am powerless over people. Because of this, I tend to cower and allow others to treat me like a doormat. Or I explode or become defensive. I know I'm not alone in this. I found this article that I believe is in line with communicating with difficult people and is supportive with this program. As they say, take what you like and leave the rest. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you Gabigail!! I do have trouble communicating with difficult people. Big time! If someone wants to sit down and calmly talk to me I can talk about ANYTHING. The subject matter is never an issue. It is the person's emotional state that gets me every time.
